The Prince Edward Island Golf Association is seeking players interested in trying out for the 2013 Canada Games Golf Team . To be eligible a player must be under 19 years of age as of August 17th 2013 and must be a member of a P.E.I.G.A. course. An information session on the training and selection process will be held on Sunday, February 3rd at 2:00pm in the lecture theatre of the Tourism and Hospitality Institute of Holland College.

The Prince Edward Island Golf Association announced today that it has entered into partnership with the Access Global Golf and Travel Network to offer its members travel savings and rewards.

All members of the Prince Edward Island Golf Association will automatically be registered as a guest with their 2013 membership. P.E.I.G.A. Appoints Golf Coach

 

The Prince Edward Golf Association has appointed Dallas Desjardins of Summerside as the Provincial Golf Coach . Mr. Desjardins who is the General Manager of the Summerside Golf Club was the 2011 Canadian Golf Professional of the Year .

“ We are extremely pleased that Dallas has accepted this very important position . He brings a wealth of experience to the role and a passion for teaching and coaching . This is the first time that the local golf community will have access to a very well qualified coach ,“ said P.E.I.G.A. President Wayne Levy .

The Provincial Golf Coach will oversee the Association’s player development efforts including it’s junior development programs.

He will  assist the provinces top competitive golfers in the further development of their skills to improve their performance at regional and national events.

An immediate priority for the Association and its new Coach is the selection and training of the 2013 Canada Games Golf Team which will compete in Sherbrooke Quebec this August . The process of identifying potential team members will begin immediately .

“ I am thrilled to take on this challenge . I am keenly interested in  developing our young players and look forward to helping them to excel in whatever golf path they choose to pursue . Golf can open many doors and I hope to be a positive influence on the careers of our young players “ said Mr. Desjardins .

Golf Association Executive Director Ron MacNeill said that the appointment of a Provincial Golf Coach was a major goal for the sport organization who oversees the game provincially .

“ The appointment of a coach will strengthen our ability to produce top level competitive golfers . Dallas will also be working with P.E.I.G.A. member courses to offer programs for both new and recreational golfers which will support our mandate to grow the game. He will be a great resource for our members “ said Mr. MacNeill .
