Golf Association Appoints Senior Rules Official
President of the Prince Edward Island Golf Association , Cliff Goodwin, announced today that the governing body of golf in the province has appointed Fred Coady as its Senior Rules Official .
“We are very fortunate to have Fred take on this important role . As P.E.I.’s only Level 4 Certified Rules Official he is a tremendous asset to our mandate . He has officiated competitive golf at all levels and brings a wealth of experience to the position “ , said Mr. Goodwin.
In addition to the P.E.I. Amateur Championship the Golf Association sanctions a number of other tournaments . Working with tournament organizers Mr. Coady will ensure that all P.E.I.G.A tournaments meet the highest standards of fair competition.
“ A primary goal of the Golf Association is to increase player knowledge about the Rules of Golf so that they are better prepared to compete in tournaments at the local , regional and national levels “ said Mr. Goodwin.
One of Mr. Coady’s objectives is to increase the number of certified rules officials in the province .
“ With all of the tournaments that take place we need more trained officials . Although demanding it’s very rewarding to know that you are helping to protect the integrity of the game “ said Mr. Coady

The 2010 Island Coastal Amateur Championship will be held July 3rd and 4th at the Stanhope Golf Club.
“ The Provincial Amateur is our premier event and I encourage every competitive golfer to enter it. It will be a first class tournament and will crown our amateur , mid-amateur and senior champion’s “ said Mr. Goodwin.
