Senior Mixed Better Ball

INAUGURAL KING OF CLUBS SENIOR MIXED HAS SUCCESS

On Monday July 11th at the Fox Meadow Golf Club the first King of Clubs Senior Mixed Better Ball was held.  Under cloudy skies, twenty-two teams of two seniors played a new format of “Better Ball”.  It was a two-ball alternate shot with the better score chosen at the end of each hole.  The golfers found it very interesting and enjoyable.  Some said that they had to concentrate more to keep track of the score for each ball.  In the end they all had fun and they enjoyed this new format.

The two best scores were turned in by the team of Mirna Millar and Lowell Kurylyk of Summerside and the team of Debby Beck and Barry White of Brudenell.  They both had scores of 73.  The father/daughter combination of Barry White and Debby Beck won the tie-breaker because of their better back nine score.  Both teams had played well.  Millar and Kurylyk had four birdies which was not good enough to beat the Brudenell pair who had nine straight pars on the back nine.  The two best nets were tied with scores of 60.  The team of Bob Smith and Audrey Simmonds won the tie-breaker over the team of Tom Musclow and Marilyn Letts.

The prize winners were awarded gift certificates from the King of Clubs.  King of Clubs owner Brett Doyle was very pleased to be able to sponsor this new event.  From the enthusiasm shown at this first event it is quite possible it will happen again next year.

King of Clubs Gift Certificates were awarded to the following:
