2009 Senior Ranking
PEIGA ANNOUNCES SENIOR GOLF AWARDS
At the last event of the King of Clubs Tour at Anderson’s Creek Golf Club the end of season awards were announced. All season the golfers had been earning points for the three rankings (PEIGA Senior Player Ranking, King of Clubs Senior Division Ranking and King of Clubs Super Senior Division Ranking). On the King of Clubs Tour the top four golfers in the Senior Division and the top four golfers in the Super Senior Division won gift certificates from the King of Clubs Golf Shop.
The King of Clubs Senior winners were:
1. Ron Garrett (Brudenell)
1. Ron Boyles (Fox Meadow)
3. Mike Coady (Belvedere)
4. Peter Clark (Stanhope)
The King of Clubs Super Senior winners were:
1. Cliff Goodwin (Summerside)
2. Franklin Doyle (Belvedere)
3. John Campbell (Summerside)
4. Rodney McInnis (Mill River)
4. Bill Arsenault (Belvedere)
The PEIGA Ranking determines the sixteen seniors and eight super seniors who recently played in the Abegweit Outfitters Match Play Tournament at the Avondale Golf Club. The senior champion of this event was Carl Hansen of Belvedere and the Super Senior Champion was Cliff Goodwin of Summerside.
This ranking combined with the 2009 PEIGA Provincial Senior Team also determines who will be invited to play in the sixth annual Maritime Senior Challenge to be held next June in Moncton. The following have earned this invitation:

The top senior golfer in PEI was Ron Garrett of Brudenell. He accumulated the most points during the 2009 season in the PEIGA Senior Player Ranking. He won the PEI Senior Amateur, the PEI Mid-Amateur and 4 King of Clubs tour events. This is a repeat accomplishment for Ron as he has won the PEIGA Senior Golfer of the Year five out of the last six years.
