GARRETT CONTINUES HIS DOMINATION
The King of Clubs Senior Men’s Golf Tour had its initial field day of the season at the beautiful Countryview golf course in Fairview on Monday May 13th. Forty-eight men enjoyed the afternoon under sunny skies and gusting winds on this challenging course. The Currie family had the course in excellent condition and everyone had good comments about the event.
Ron Garrett of Brudenell started off with a birdie on the first hole to show everyone he was the player to beat. With a few blips and two more birdies Ron lead the field with an even par 72. The next best score belonged to Mike Coady of Belvedere with a 77. Mike had spent a good part of the winter honing his golfing skills in Florida. The only other golfer to break 80 was Dave McAlduff of the home club Countryview.
In the Super Senior Division Ron Boyles of Fox Meadow had the best score shooting an 81. A couple of bad holes on the back nine prevented Ron from scoring better. The next best score in this Division was Bill Murphy of Andersons Creek with a score of 82. An extra prize was presented to a Super-Super Senior Peter MacNeil of Clyde River with a 74 net.
All the participants thought that this Countryview course would provide an excellent venue for the PEIGA Amateur coming up on July 6 and 7. It is in great shape now and by then it will be even better.
The next King of Clubs Senior Tour event will be on Tuesday May 21 at The Eagles Glenn Golf Club in Cavendish. It was also announced that the third annual King of Clubs mixed event would take place on Tuesday July 9th at the beautiful Fox Meadow Golf Club in Stratford. More information about the mixed tournament can be found on the PEIGA website.
